Established in 1895 in the Beaujolais region of France well known for its vineyards, Paul Berthoud made his name manufacturing knapsack sprayers. In 1913 Berthoud designed and built the first horse draw sprayer.

In 1987 Berthoud was purchased by the Exel group of companies who specialise in sprayer technology. Despite the group having several brands under their umbrella the companies philosophy is that each brand has its own identity and unique products and features.

Today Berthoud is recognised as one of the top 5 sprayer manufacturers in Europe with a worldwide presence. Building machines from small mounted to large self propelled sprayer. Developing cutting edge technology to reduce input cost, improve efficiencies and help decrease the environmental footprint of crop spraying on the planet.

Sniper technology is the latest development offering a boom mounted weed detection system which identifies individual weeds in the crop and selectively targets these weeds with single nozzle switching rather then the conventional method of spraying the entire field.
